NASA ARCHIVES

Vintage prints from the 1950s to 70s

The images show rare original photographs from the NASA archives, the prints of which were
taken between the 1950s and 1970s. Originally used for research purposes, these images are
now symbols of a time when mankind’s progress seemed to know no end, the sky was wide
and mankind’s dream of travelling through space was only one step away.
We see rocket launches, the blue earth from above, astronauts on the moon – motifs that are
familiar to all of us and have become icons of the pictorial history of mankind – space: the final
frontier….
These images embody the special, the different, the unusual or the forgotten. They are gems to
be discovered in the borderlands of art and photography.
